START will utilize “Go to Webinars” which provides an interactive setting allowing participants to submit written questions or “raise their hands” to ask questions. Presenters can lead a webinar from their home or office expanding the possibilities of speakers we can recruit for these education sessions.

PR 101: Telling your story through effective PR outreach and engagement

Join Tracy Pawelski for this webinar which will provide practical tools to help PSBA members manage the good reputation of their companies and industry by understanding the basics of effective PR outreach. Members will learn how to confidently deliver compelling messages through communications channels that are appropriate for them, strengthen relationships with the local media and strategic partners, and execute a February 2021 “Love the Bus/Love the Bus Driver” campaign to promote driver appreciation and recruitment. A segment of the training will include a look at crisis communications and the importance of preparedness. Following the webinar, members will have access to a toolkit of assets that will help them localize strategic messages and tactics.
Tracy has been a recognized leader in strategic and crisis communications for more than three decades with a special focus on reputation management.
She is the former spokesperson for a $26 billion grocery retail leader where she led U.S. teams across 14 states that were responsible for media relations, crisis communications and community engagement. She supervised the company's Consumer Affairs Department and managed a $15 million corporate foundation.
For agency clients, Tracy combines strategic communications experience with a background in national and state politics and public policy. Her background helps clients understand how to build goodwill with key audiences using inspired storytelling and proven tactics that deepen trust.
Tracy is a published author of two adventure travel books, One Woman’s Camino and One Woman in the Himalayas. She represents PPO&S on the Leadership Harrisburg Area board, is a recent past board member of the Harrisburg Regional Chamber of Commerce, and a mentor for women in leadership. Register today!

Ride Safety For Children with Trauma and Attachment Disorders

The Exceptional Learners Committee is proud to present an hour-long educational session on Reactive Attachment Disorder. Join Mary McGowan, ATTACH as she explores ways to maximize safety for all riders, how to respond to children who may be experiencing behavior problems. Along with how to troubleshoot specific problems related to behavior and symptoms of trauma and attachment disorders and how they could potentially manifest on the bus. Mary will also explore how to connect with parents and school staff to make transportation a safe and enjoyable experience.
Mary has led the Association for Training on Trauma and Attachment in Children (ATTACh) in Minneapolis, Minnesota since 2011. During her tenure, Ms. McGowan has implemented multiple comprehensive pieces of training for parents and professionals which have been shared with thousands in North America. She continues to raise awareness on a National level of how early abuse and neglect impact our youth and families.
Ms. McGowan served as a post-adoption specialist for the North American Council on Adoptable Children (NACAC) doing successful grassroots recruitment for foster and adoptive families for 10 years. She has earned accolades as the National Education Manager for the Professional Association of Treatment Homes (PATH) and is an experienced trainer who teaches and consults locally and nationally.
Mary holds a Bachelor of Science in Psychology with minors in Community Violence Prevention and Child Development from Metropolitan State University, and a master’s candidate in Counseling and Psychological Services from St. Mary’s University of Minnesota. Mary earned several certifications including Therapeutic Crisis Intervention for Family Based Placements (TCIF) from Cornell University and is a Nationally Certified Family Group Decision Making Facilitator (FGDM).
