Exceptional Learners Committee Presents:
Best Practices for Transporting Students with Epilepsy
Thursday, April 29, 2021 - 10 AM
Presenter: Andrea Zonneveld, EAWCP
Please join us for the next installment in the Exceptional learner's webinar series. This webinar will explore If a student had a seizure on your bus, would you know what to do? Epilepsy is a disorder that causes individuals to have recurring seizures. There are many different kinds of seizures, and they can look different from person to person. This webinar will prepare you to recognize seizures when they happen and provide appropriate first aid. We will discuss best practices for transporting students with epilepsy, and help you develop a seizure action plan.
Our presenter: Andrea Zonneveld is the Community Education and Events Coordinator at the Epilepsy Association of Western and Central PA (EAWCP). The EAWCP is a private, non-profit service organization that provides public education and supportive services to individuals and families affected by epilepsy/seizure disorders. For the last 10 years, Andrea has helped facilitate seizure recognition and first aid training throughout western and central Pennsylvania, helping countless school personnel, students, bus drivers, and more learn how to help someone during a seizure. Her passion for educating the community and working for this organization is inspired by her brother’s history of epilepsy. She graduated from Carnegie Mellon University with a degree in Biological Sciences.
