Harrisburg, PA, July 17, 2015– Harold Girardat, owner of Girardat, LP, was presented with the PSBA Bus Stops Here Award, at the PSBA Annual Convention and Trade Show which was held from June 28 to June 30 at the Penn Stater in State College, PA. Harold was joined at the PSBA Convention with his family and staff. Girardat, LP, which has been transporting students since 1949, is located in Cochranton, Pennsylvania (Crawford County).

The Bus Stops Here Award is given to a person that the Executive Committee feels has made a significant contribution to the Pennsylvania School Bus Association. This person has always upheld the ideals of the Pennsylvania School Bus Association in mind and has worked to fulfill the safety, education and advocacy missions of the association. Upon nomination the Executive Committee would affirm that the nominee is respected and held out as a role model within their peers, school administration, and members of the community, and has upheld the core values of the Association and meaningfully contributed to its mission.

Harold Girardat has been a member of PSBA since 1981 and was elected to the Board of Directors in 1989. He has served as PSBA Secretary, Second Vice President and First Vice President. In 2004, Harold Girardat was elected PSBA President and served the association in that position until July of 2006. When an officer position needed to be filled in 2014, Harold answered the call and rejoined the PSBA Executive Committee as Second Vice President.

PSBA’s first president, Don Hagey, provided opening remarks and was presented the award to Harold Girardat along with PSBA President Blake Krapf and Executive Director Mike Berk. Blake Krapf noted, “The Executive Committee was extremely pleased to present Harold with this award. He continues to be supportive of the association and a mentor to many school bus contractors. The honor is well deserved.”

The Pennsylvania School Bus Association is a group of nearly 400 school bus contractors from across Pennsylvania who have joined together to be a strong voice for school bus safety and the school bus contracting industry.
