IMPORTANT UPDATE
Over the past several weeks, we have witnessed the impact of COVID-19 on our personal lives as well as the school bus
community. All of us have had to refocus our efforts to deal with the growing emergency and the adjustments
to our daily lives. So first and foremost, we hope you and your families are safe and healthy. We at PSBA continue to
keep you all in our thoughts. . After much discussion, we are sad to announce that this year’s School Bus Driver
Safety Competition which was to take place on June 26 and June 27 will not be held.
PSBA would like to thank Dallas Krapf, Chair of the Safety Competition Committee, and his team at Krapf School Bus for the tremendous work they do every year to make the Safety Competition a great success. To the drivers, judges, volunteers, sponsors and spectators who make these events so special, we look forward to seeing you all your smiling faces soon. We wish you and your loved ones safety and good health!
2019 Pennsylvania School Bus Driver Safety Competition
School bus drivers from across Pennsylvania arrived in State College this weekend for the 43rd Annual State School Bus Driver Safety Competition. The competition held on June 21 and 22 was held on the grounds of the Mount Nittany Elementary and Middle Schools.. A total of 95 drivers competed in this year's competition - 84 conventional and 11 transit. PSBA congratulates all of the drivers who trained and competed in their local competitions to qualify for the state competition.
The following drivers finished in the top two places for the private and public categories in the Conventional and Transit Divisions. These drivers will compete in the International School Bus Driver Safety Competition scheduled for July 21 in Austin, Texas.
Conventional Division
1st Place - Private: Ruth DelVecchio, Krapf School Bus
1st Place - Public: Larry Hannon Jr., Centennial School District
Transit Division
1st Place - Private: Cheryl Vogelsang, On The Go Kids
1st Place - Public: Jim O'Toole, Haverford Area School District
